Rep. Matt Gaetz‘s ex-head of military affairs held a press conference Monday revealing he was interviewed by the FBI but claimed the lurid allegations against the Florida Republican are an attempt to ‘discredit a very vocal conservative.’
Former Gaetz staffer Nathan Nelson told reporters that two FBI agents interviewed him on Wednesday. ‘They told me that members of the media reached out to them, asserting that I had previous knowledge of Congressman Gaetz’s involvement in illegal activities,’ Nelson said.
‘They asserted that because of that knowledge I resigned my position as the director of military affairs,’ he continued. ‘I’m here this morning to state that nothing could be further from the truth.’
