Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue Building New Home for Bear Cubs

A new home for bears is being built in Petaluma. The Press Democrat reports that the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue is building an apex predator enclosure to help care for bear cubs as well as other large predators like mountain lions. Located on Mecham Road near Stony Point, the rescue is currently caring for a half-dozen cubs in a living room sized area and are set to be released in the spring. The new space would be a 160-by-230-foot enclosure, more than double the current space being used. However, Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue still needs to raise about $300,000 dollars to finish the enclosure having already raised $700,000.
