California Could Require Healthcare Facilities To Maintain 45-Day Supply Of PPE

Santa Rosa’s Memorial Hospital is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak among 17 employees. And Sonoma County recorded another 80 cases of coronavirus last night. Meanwhile, California could be the first in the nation to require healthcare facilities to maintain a supply of personal protective equipment in case of a health emergency. Under the law, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and dialysis clinics would have to maintain a 45-day supply of PPE. The legislation also creates a state PPE advisory committee to guide California on the creation of a state stockpile of PPE and guidelines to work toward a 90-day pandemic level supply for all essential workers.
